Planning Ahead

I've decided to let people vote for the genre in which I'll play out my plot. Which shall it be, I wonder... I could pick a romantic sort of plot, but I could also pick a comedy. Actually, I really don't want to make it a comedy (of course there will be comedy in it). I could make it full-on action, or maybe a horror.

What do you think it should be?

While I have a place to put down my thoughts (I don't even have a writing program on my PC) I may as well use this space to plan on where to move after school is finished, and when I have some money.

After going through about twenty-odd countries in many different parts of the world, I'm still deciding on whether I want to move to South America or Asia...

So far I'm stuck on a small few:

Asia:

Indonesia
Singapore

South America:

Peru
Brasil

Unrelated: How to be a bad wife.
Contrast: How to be a good wife.

Less related: George Macdonald is awesome.

Unimportant Stuff

About the Logo: It's a parody of Picasso's Dog. I find inspiration in the original piece along with my own. Unfortunately, I lost my original copy and I only have the online copies.

While reading through a few Asian tales, I found myself thinking of their music. Mind you, I wasn't being profound about it. I looked up a few (starting with orchestras) and wound up finding two singers that I now adore.

Yu Yar (尤雅) and Tracy Tsui (崔苔菁) are their names. Well, I don't know about their English names, but their Chinese names are correct. That is, unless, I've completely misread them as Chinese when they are in fact not (but I'm pretty certain they are, though I don't know which form).

I need to either find their music in a store or download it all. If I had a sliver of a chance to find it in a Canadian store, I'd probably go out and buy it. Knowing how record stores work in my area, that's nearly impossible. As for downloading, I've no idea where to start. I've looked at a few trusted places, but no such luck. It's gonna bug me that I can't find their discographies (or even a single song).

Hey... YOU! Yeah, you! Help a buddy out, won't you? Help me find these two singers' music!

Oh Ho Ho!

So as I read all these tales (not just the synopses), I find a few that I quite like. A great tale comes from Tunisia. It's known as "The Death of Abu Nowas and his Wife". That link goes directly to the story.

The only reason I'm really linking this is because it's an enjoyable story that I cannot use. Well, I could, but I'd rather not. It'd end up as crappy fluff, and I wouldn't want to do that to this particular tale. If anything I could briefly allude to it through an encounter with a town/village.

I was going to follow up with a video of something that has nothing to do with anything said so far, but I got sidetracked by a combination of Mark E and videos about parasites. I don't really know why, but it doesn't matter I suppose. No matter what, enjoy:

Disrupted Thought Process 1

I've gotten to the C section of folklore (anyone making birth jokes will die). I found some of the stories to be kinda long and overdrawn, but others were pretty damn good. I know I'm going to come across a few dozen stories that are basically the same (with context being the only real difference). Catskin, for instance, is the same as Bearskin. The protagonist had a name in Bearskin, while the protagonist in Catskin was simply named "Catskin".

On to the important matters:

I've gotten a few good ideas for the setting of the story. Some are stolen (to a small degree) while others are actually original. I really want to include giants in some way, so I'll probably give them some backstory.

By the way, when I say "stolen" I don't mean the material is pretty much copy-pasta'd from the stories. It's more like it's taken as inspiration to grow on the original idea. For instance, say I took a look at Snow White. I could very well turn Snow White into the witch and have seven servant dwarves; or dwarves who took her from her home and rape her daily, her only reason to stay alive being revenge. I can go in any direction.

Ah, that sweet smell of nothing.

Yes, nothing. That's what I have for you. Right now I'm working on creating THE WORLD OF... I don't know what.

First thing's first: steal ideas from folklore found on Wikipedia and in my bedroom!

But before that, let me just say thank you for killing time with my blog...thing. Okay, till next time (maybe).

EDIT: I have come up with a new term: Blurry.

Blog + Journal + Diary = Blurry (the plural following suite with "Diary")
